The Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) can be retrofitted now to the 2013 KTM 1190 Adventures!

Owners of a KTM 1190 ADVENTUREor KTM 1190 ADVENTURE R of model year 2013 can have their bike updated with the revolutionary MSC at the authorized KTM dealers.
The MSC retrofit is a software update that can be installed by the dealer within one hour without additional hardware. The price for the MSC retrofit in Germany is 399 euros (price included VAT). Due to different tax rates, the prices can differ from country to country. More information and video of the MSC are provided below.
Will the Ktm Duke 125/200/390 get the new Bosch Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) system?
As it can be seen further below the MSC is the next big thing in motorcycle active safety under all circumstances, either on a straight line or cornering.

Bosch Motorcycle stability control (MSC): Braking at lean angle
The braking and acceleration during cornering is especially critical for motorcycles. Current standard ABS algorithms do not consider the side inclination, and are, therefore, not able to adapt the antilock braking function during cornering.
For this reason, Bosch has developed a stability control system for high-performance motorcycles that works by supporting the rider in all situations: during both braking and accelerating, and while either riding straight or while cornering.

Will the Ktm Duke 125/200/390 get the new Bosch Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC) system?
As it can be seen further below the MSC is the next big thing in motorcycle active safety under all circumstances, either on a straight line or cornering.
If this system is as good as the first reviews of the Ktm Adventure 1190 MSC suggest, it is a matter of time before many premium motorcycles feature the MSC. The current Adventure 1190 owners may retrofit the system at a price of about ¤1000 ($1300).
According to rumors from India, the Duke 125/200/390 could also get a cheaper version of the system in the future. It is reminded that the Ktm Duke 200 got the ABS a few months ago, although this website was not totally satisfied with the operation of that ABS.

The MSC intended to the Duke series will cost roughly half the price of the system installed to the Adventure and it will be an optional to existing owners.
Bosch in cooperation with Ktm introduces the Motorcycle Stability Control system, MSC
Ôhe system which is named MSC (Motorcycle Stability Control) is basically a brake, traction and wheelie control system which enhances the stability of the bike not only when braking and accelerating on a straight line, but also during cornering. Actually it¢s the first time that a manufacturer claims that such a system works also while the motorcycle is leant at a bend. Thus the bike¢s active safety is improved.
The system will be featured at the 2014 Ktm Adventure and Adventure R motorbikes. Owners of the 2013 Adventure motorcycles will have to pay to install the MSC system.
Gerhard Steiger, president of the Bosch Chassis Systems Control Division said that “…Studies show that ABS on its own can prevent around one-quarter of all motorcycle accidents that lead to injury or death. The new stability control will increase this number even further”.
The importance of this system may be comprehended better as this is can be an anti low-side crash equipment, although its much more than that: it forces the front wheel to stay on the ground during hard acceleration, its is a traction control operating also during the bend, it prevents rising the rear wheel during emergency stops, its an ABS operating also when leaned over and reduces the effect of righting motion of braking during the bend.
However it should be stated that at the end of the day, the MSC cannot oppose the laws of physics. It is a riding enhancement and probably many bikes will feature this system or any evolvement in the future.
