Honda CBR300R ABS - New photos and data
2013/10/18
Here are a few more photos of the new CBR300R and a hint of the specifications in Chinese. This data is compared to the current CBR250R.
It looks like the new bike is 2kg (4 lbs) heavier than the CBR250R (164 kg now from 162)-(361.6 lbs from 357.1), the saddle is marginally lower (780mm from 784)-(30.71 in. from 30.87).
The engine capacity has increased to 286 cc. from 249.4 c.c. and this increase was due to the bigger stroke (76X63 instead of 76X55). Compression remains the same.
The power is 22.7 KW/8500 rpm from 19.42 KW/8500 rpm, that is 30.5 bhp from 26 bhp.
The torque is 27 Nm/7250 rpm (19.91 ft lbs) from 22.9 Nm/7000 rpm (16.9 ft lbs), hence its greater at marginally higher revs.
The dimensions of the wheels are the same, 110/70-17 at the font and 140/70-17 at the rear.
The conclusion from the above is that the new bike is different only in terms of the engine and styling compared to the current CBR250R. Thus if the riding position is not altered, the CBR300R should feel like a more powerful CBR250R. Compared to the twin cylinder Kawasaki ninja 250, the CBR 300R is slightly less powerful, (2bhp) and more torquey (5 Nm), the weight is slightly less, (CBR300R ABS:164 kg ninja 250 ABS:174kg).Thus their performance should now be about the same and the major difference should derive form the single cylinder operation compared to the twin cylinder one. The ninja 300 is quite more powerful.
It seems that Honda proceeded with increasing the engine capacity and changing the styling of the CBR250R. There are no specifications available for the CBR300R.

Honda announces the CBR300R at the Chongqing bike show in China
The design differences with the current CBR250R are located at the headlamp section which now resembles to the CBR 500 R while the CBR250R resembled to the VFR1200. The silencer also looks similar to that of the CBR500R.
The CBR300R is expected to replace the CBR250R in most countries, in an effort to compete with the twin cylinder Kawasaki ninja 250 and 300. The manufacturing country will still be Thailand.
