Marc Marquez has re-signed with Honda until the end of 2016 which gives him another 30 months on the saddle of the sportĒs best bike. ItĒs no surprise either that Honda would want to lock up the current world championship leader long-term. 
The 21-year-old Spaniard won already the motoGP Championship last year on his debut, setting a new record for the youngest title winner. Across his 22 MotoGP races to date, Marquez has taken 10 wins, finished second six times, third on four occasions (thatĒs 20 podium finishes from 22 starts), and has a pole position strike rate of almost 60 percent. 


 

“I am very happy to announce my renewal with HRC. I had always dreamt about being part of the Repsol Honda Team, and thanks to Honda, the dream came true a year and a half ago. It is a great honour to be a part of the Honda family and IĒm glad to remain with this special group of people for another two seasons.” Marquez said. 

“We are very satisfied to have reached an agreement to keep Marc in the team for a further two seasons. Of course as Honda we wanted to keep Marc in our family and he also wanted to stay with us so ... it was natural to renew the contract even if it is very early in the season! Marquez is enjoying a fantastic start to 2014 and he is still learning, his ability to absorb information and adapt to the machine is remarkable ” Honda Racing Corporation boss Shuhei Nakamoto said. 
The contracts of Jorge Lorenzo, Valentino Rossi, Dani Pedrosa, Andrea Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone are also expiring at the end of the season.
