ิhe new Ktm Duke 390 was introduced yesterday in India. Bookings start today.

Surprising performance and price.

The liquid cooled, 6-speed 373 c.c. engine delivers 45 bhp and 3.57 kgm (25.8 ft lbs) while the weight is restricted to 145 kg (319.7 lbs), which is promising for superb performance for this displacement. The top speed is 170 km/h (105.6 mph).
The frame and the suspensions are the same with the Duke 200, although suspensions got different settings. OE tyres are Metzeler Sportec M5 Interact. The weight is increased by 15 kgs (33.1 lbs) compared to the Duke 200. The ABS can be deactivated. Except from the different  logos, the frame and rims are painted orange.

Since the specifications of the bike have been described, the second most important feature of the Duke 390 is the price, (1.8 lachs compared to 1.2 lachs for the Duke 200), which is too close to the price of the Honda CBR250R ABS on the Indian market.
However the power provided is slightly higher than that of the Kawasaki ninja 300 abs(3.75 lachs), at half the price though. Additionally, the oncoming Bajaj Pulsar 375 which has many common parts, will be even cheaper than the Duke 390.
